Ah the good ole days.....

Back when they would do pretty much whatever I wanted them to. They would pose for me to take fun pictures. Wear whatever I put out for them. I really miss that. Sigh....those days are gone for the most part. However, I love where we are now. The conversations we can have with them now that they are more mature are just so fun. Well, most of the time. We had so much fun together last night. Just hanging out and laughing. Playing Outburst. No stress. Just fun.

Romeo and Juliet

Emily and I went to the see the Richmond Ballet perform Romeo and Juliet today. Emily’s thoughts on Romeo and Juliet:

1. She was reading the synopsis of the acts and got to the end and stated “How stupid! They both die.”

2. We have never been to that theatre before so I got the worst seats possible just to see how far back is too far. Plus I knew this ballet was not going to be the one we would want to spend that much money on. So, I say to Emily: “I wonder what the dancers must be thinking while they are dancing across the stage. How much fun must that be?” And Emily says: “I think they are thinking ‘those poor people sitting way up there at the top didn’t have enough money to get better seats.’” Stinkin’ spoiled brat!!

3. I made the comment that the stairs were very steep getting to our seats. And she said: “Yeah, I think I lost a dress size.”

4. At the end of the play, Emily says: “well, how sweet they die together.” She thought it was sweet because I always say that John and I will have to die on the same day. Well, now, I don’t say it every day all day long, but she’s heard me say it. And to that comment she added sarcastically: “And they all died, unhappily ever after.”

BUT she loved the ballet. She’s a dancer so she really loved all the dancing. I think she was expecting some talking, but all in all she had a ball. Cheap seats and all.

Do you just love 'em??

I just could NOT leave these in the store. I don't have any idea where I'll wear them except around in the yard, but I just had to have them. They are so cute! And surprisingly comfortable. And warm. Let me just throw that in BECAUSE I am SO tired of cold weather. And it's only Feb!! Alright, I have to make another post about Emily, time to move on.

This is a test

Emily and Booboo2

I am playing with my new computer and I SHOULD be able to make a post to my blog in a new, more efficient way.  I am skeptical.  We’ll see.

I'm Just a Pothole

This is my favorite commercial of all time.....for right now. Love it!! And that is my comment to the kids and John when they are complaining about something. John's the only one that is really amused by it, though. I get a blank stare with the sound of crickets in the background from the kids. But I giggle.

Ahhhhhh, the cat.......

I don't think I recall saying that I wanted a cat. I remember taking the kids to the pound and looking at kittens. I remember John (and that'd be my husband, John) saying "What about this one?" and then all of the sudden we had a cat. Clyde. He really is a good cat. He really is. He puts up with the kids like a champ and hardly ever fusses about all the things they do to him. BUT.....I'm sure he dances on the kitchen counters when we are not home BECAUSE he has knocked off and broken every glass left on the counters!! We have very few glass glasses left. And I don't want to have to do a glass check every time I leave the house, although I am starting to. Stupid cat! The only revenge I can get is letting the kids pick on him a little. And it is pretty funny to see a cat in a cheerleading outfit, admit it. The bottom pictures are of Clyde in a "home" the kids made for him out a styrofoam cooler. And no, he did not really care for it very much. The dog doesn't really like him. Tolerates him. He may even be scared of Clyde. When the cat is lying on Trooper's bed, he won't make the cat leave. Isn't that weird? 85 pound dog vs 10 pound cat and the cat wins.
He's a good cat. He likes to held. He's like a baby. He likes you to hold him up on your shoulder and walk around with him. It's very funny. I don't think we'll give him away. Just buy more glasses.

On this day in history......

I was born. I googled my birthdate and found that I share a birthday with Clark Gable (love him) and Boris Yeltsin. How 'bout that? What else? On this day....in 1992, Boris Yeltsin and President Bush sign a document to officially end the Cold War. Cool! Cable TV was deregulated on my birthday in 1996. In 1861 Texas seceded from the United States .......and well, that's about it. Something I think is pretty cool is that I was born on my grandfather's birthday. I didn't know him very well. For some reason we visited them more when I was younger. I can vaguely remember sitting on his lap watching tv. One Christmas we were at their house and he brought a doll out of a closet for me, I was SO excited. The body was pink with white polka dots. I can remember being so amazed that when you lay the doll horizontally, her eyes closed like she was sleeping.

I have had a good day. Kids made me breakfast in bed--chocolate chip pancakes, scrambled eggs, and deer sausage. YUM! What wonderful children I have. John did not get to take the kids shopping for my birthday because of the snow, so Emily went shopping in her bedroom and brought me a butterfly necklace and a small notepad, perfect fit for my purse. My neighbor took me to lunch. It's been a good day.
