Our temporary lodging in Germany

It's really starting to sink in. I'll be more excited when the date gets closer. Right now I'm nervous and apprehensive. Taking the car to port today for shipping. Movers coming Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday to pack and it will all be gone Friday. I'm not ready! BUT.......going to the airport to pick up our rental got me excited about going to Texas in ELEVEN days! We are going to have so much fun! Haven't been back to Texas since we moved in 2007. The kids have grown so much no one is going to recognize them. Speaking of the kids, I really need to add some posts about them. I think I need to add John's and Emily's birthdays, Emily's new hair (I will leave you hanging on that one), and end of the school year details. Nothing boring in our house right now.

My trip to Washington DC

At a pharmacology conference in DC this weekend and this is my view of DC. It seems so sad. Also, after a brazillion dollars for this conference, what kind of goodies did I get??? A highlighter!?! I feel cheated. John and the kids came with me and they ate out seeing the city so all is not lost. Break is over.

What big ears you have.....

Going to miss the lake

I can't believe the kids will swim in the lake this early. Ah to be so invincible again..... What a beautiful day! Celebrating John's birthday today since he is leaving to go to Germany next Saturday on his real birthday.

Just how many bottles does it take??

Really?? Can u tell I go a little overboard with the sunscreen?? No sunburns for us. My kids detest the sunscreen routine I put them all through before we go to the pool or beach. At least it will give them something to talk about at family gatherings when they're all adults.

Germany?????

What??  Yes, it's true.  We are moving to Germany.  Being dragged, kicking and screaming is more like it.  We will live right where the little airplane is under Frankfurt.  John is being transferred there for 3 years with his job.  It was a shock at first, but, we are starting to be a little intrigued by it all.  What an adventure it will be!  Like a 3 year vacation!  John is the only one we haven't really won over yet, but who could blame him??  He is a sophomore, so he will graduate in Germany.  Emily is already planning a birthday trip to Paris.  John still gets to play golf, Ethan still gets to play football, and Emily still gets to dance.  Whew!!  They will go to school on the Air Force base there.  I am most excited about going back to a 10 point grading scale.  Woohoo!  Here 94 to 100 is an A, 88 to 93 is a B and so on.  So much pressure on the kids.  And it's ridiculous!  So, my timeline is that we will be moving at the end of July.  It makes sense to me, BUT this is a government agency we're talking about here.  May take a while.  Well, that's all I've got for now, kids.  Need to get back to cleaning out closets and whatnot.  THAT is a good thing about moving.  Purging all the junk that you collect over the years.
