There's a new injury in the house.....

.....who will be next??? Poor Ethan! Horsing around on the playground, made a quick spin, and his eye met with a fence post. And the picture doesn't really do it justice. It was so puffy this morning when he woke up, but after he got up and started moving around it looked a little better. Did not like all the attention of everyone hovering over him at school.

That looks TOEtally painful

Wow!  How'd you do that?  Let me tell you the whole story.  We were walking across a busy street and a little old lady was walking with us.  She almost got hit by a car, John pushed her out of the way, saving her life, but her purse fell on John's toe.  Now, THAT's a good story!  That's not really what happened, but come on, admit it.  It's a good story.  The real story is John kicked the bathtub. And that's it.  And here's an update.....John did not kick the tub in anger.  He thought it sounded like he did that on purpose, but we all know that John does not have a temper, so ya'll already know that, right?

Now, feast your eyes on my lovely new coffee table.  I LOVE it.  It is absolutely what I envisioned.

And my pretty new clock.  It's big, but I just love it!  They were both on sale.  I felt like we stole them.  It's a great feeling, isn't it?
And my clock will go right up there.  Hopefully soon.  We'll have to check in with the toe to see when it will be able to climb a ladder.

Sleeping babies.....

I am Emily's Little Kumquat!

Well,  two out of three is not bad, as they say.  Ethan would not go to sleep to save my life.  He is a good actor, though, don't you think?  He looked like he was genuinely sleeping in the first picture. I love to watch Emily sleep.  She looks like a little angel, doesn't she?  I am practicing taking pictures with a suppressed flash.  It takes a lot of patience and no breathing allowed while trying to hold the camera still enough to get a decent shot.

I bought a new dress today that I think looks an awul lot like a moomoo dress, but I like it.  It's very comfortable.  Or comfortabibble as Ethan says.  I would take a picture of myself.....however, my hairdresser had a bad hair day....with MY hair.  Oh my.....I should take a picture of it, but I just can't .  I have had my hair pulled up on top of my head ever since trying to hide it.  I have an appointment to have it fixed on Wednesday afternoon.  I can't wait.  She left the bleach on too long on my highlights and they are WhItE, not blonde.  Even John had a hard time finding the upside.  And he usually doesn't even know I've had my hair done.  There was NO missing this.  Just ask him.  He is coming home ToMoRrOw.

L a z y

I can barely type, I'm so lazy today.  I have done a total of nothing.  Well, I take that back.  I did finally pull myself together at the end of the day and take the kids to the movies.  We saw Paul Blart, Mall Cop.  It was pretty good.  The good guy wins.  That always makes me happy.  And then I got to have my favorite coffee from the Sheetz!  It's a gas station in this area.  They have the best Mocha Latte.  And ONLY 400 calories.  Well, so, I don't have them that often.  Just a special treat every now and then.
John is in California.  I really wanted to go with him, but, alas, noone to keep our children.  He'll be home on Tuesday.  He had to go sick, so ya'll need to feel sorry for him.  There's nothing like being sick on an airplane.
Emily has taken to calling me her little kumquat the last couple of days.  I don't know where she heard it from, but I think it's cute. I was just about to tell you a story about Ethan and bowling, but I think he would not appreciate me sharing it.  I will just mention so when I reread these entries, I will remember.  John is learning to drive the car.  Sometimes, I meet him when he gets off the bus and I let him drive the car home.  Not far, really.  It's a standard, and he really does a good job changing gears and maintaining control of the car.  He is so mature.  Well, that's it for now.  It's time for bed.  Goodnight.

My Valentine

Well, now I have to say something nice about John because I wrote about something that annoys me and he wrote nice stuff about me....guess where.....facebook.  And soooo....what can I say nice about John?  Hhhmmmm....there must be something, let me think.

......3 hours later......

..kidding.  Let me tell you this about John.  He goes to the grocery store for me on his way home from work.  And who likes to do that?

Facebook

I used to get mad at John because he plays solitaire on the computer too much, in my opinion.  Well, we have replaced solitaire with something all new......Facebook!  Oh my word!!!  He says...."it's addictive".   I say......it's annoying!  I don't think I could pull his attention away from it, if I set myself on FiRe!  I'm sure it's a passing phase.  Well, I want him to have fun, but when I want him to put it away and talk to me, I WANT HIM TO PUT IT AWAY AND TALK TO ME!!!

In other news.....I had a lovely birthday.  I got exactly what I wanted, uh, minus the car.  I got good chocolate, a massage (which was just lovely), and new flatware.  I know, I know, flatware doesn't sound like a fun birthday present, but it's something I wouldn't ever buy for some reason.  We have been married 18 years and still don't have a decent set of flatware.  Well, now we do.  And it's beautiful.  Oh, and new earrings.  What a great family I have, that takes such good care of me.

Let's see, what else?  John made a 102 on a story he wrote for science.  It compared hunting to the parts of a cell.  It was awesome.  Only John can turn the parts of a cell into a hunting trip. Way to go John!!!

And here is a picture I took of the sun setting on the lake.  Isn't it beautiful?
