Birthday girl....

It's me!!  It's me!!  Tomorrow is the BIG day!  I'm sure it's going to be a fabulous day.  Sleeping in...breakfast in bed....long bubble bath.....it's going to be great!! .......and don't forget PRESENTS!!!! I just know there will be a new car waiting for me in the garage with a big, red bow on it.  Well....a girl can dream, can't she?  And later in the day the whole nation can celebrate with me since the super bowl was planned in honor of my birthday!

In other news....for those of you who do not know, I have decided to go back to school.  I am going to get my masters in nursing.  I'll be a Family Nurse Practitioner.  I took the dreaded GRE last week.  I did well, so hopefully, I will get accepted.  I won't find out anything for another month.  Let the nailbiting begin.

John built another rocket out of spare parts around the house.  The only thing he really bought for it was the engine.  I thought it was very ingenious myself.  I'll spare you the video....all you can see is the ground where I am running away from the rocket, as it did not go UP exactly.  It went up maybe 10 feet and then started doing flips.  Ah.....the building of a rocket scientist....all in a day's work.  Next time we will launch the rocket a little further from the house.

How do ya'll like the pictures of my backyard??  One day I will have grass.  That dream is not quite as lofty as my dream of a new car, but still......  We have been trying to grow grass for a solid year now and the only grass we have is what we put down as sod in the front yard.  And it wasn't even enough to cover the whole front yard.  So, I have a beautiful new house and a DIRT yard.

5...4....3....2....1...

Prelaunch picture. Sadly, I do not have any pictures of the rocket. It was at this point that John decided that the batteries in the launcher device thing were dead. So, I sacrificed the batteries in my camera for the good of NASA's future rocket engineer. It was great! You shoulda seen it. It went up, up, up. Not so high that we couldn't see it. And then it started the descent. Coming down, all eyes on it, biting our nails waiting for the parachute to open. And it did, just like it was supposed to. It was falling so gracefully....into an opening....and....and....O_N_E gust of wind and it's in a tree! OH, we were so mad! Every rocket we have purchased up to now...4....have all disappointed us. But, we are heading in the right direction. The last 3 we never even found. At least we know where this one is. If you happen to know the Jolly Green Giant, would you please let him know we could use his help.

Emily is trying to invent chocolate lipstick. I think it'll be a big hit!

And....the biggest news of all. John's new hair. He was getting worried that his hair was thinning, so he bought some online. I think it looks very natural. What do ya'll think? He's so proud of it.

Where's the snow??

I feel so cheated today. We were supposed to wake up to snow. This was supposed to be a snow day, dang it!! It snowed south of us. How can that be? If it snows in North Carolina, Virgina MUST have snow. I believe it's required. And so, I am at school pluggin' away. It's supposed to snow today, but I haven't seen it yet.
And, like a good citizen, I am watching the inauguration on the internet. Not doing my job. No wait, I'm doing both. Multitasker that I am.
AND there are 11, ElEvEn days until my birthday! Just lettin ya know.

Ginger Bread House Demolition

The first annual Ginger Bread House Demolition.  And it was just as much fun as building.  Everybody took a turn with the hammer.

Nothing new to tell, really.  Well, Ethan cleaned his room today when asked.  Say your prayers, the world must truly be ending soon.  John is building a rocket, so hopefully, we will have pictures of that soon.  Emily is dancing away.  Everyone is doing well in school.  I got yelled at by a parent today.  It was bad.  She thinks I am a very poor nurse.  Well, too bad for her, she is W.R.O.N.G.  John bought me some good chocolate to make me feel better.  What a guy!

Christmas, what joy

What a great Christmas we had.  My mom was here.  It's the first year that we have had custody of her at Christmas since John and I have been married.  I think everyone got what they wanted.  And we just had a great feeling of happiness and love in our home!

Even the dog got a Christmas present!

Emily got an mp3 player and LOTS of clothes and games for her DS.

John got an ipod and an alarm clock player to go with it.  That will be just as much a present for me as it will for him.

Ethan is a new football fan.  He got, obviously, a Tony Romo jersey and Madden 09 for the Wii.

Mommy got not one, not two, but three digital picture frames.  I can have them scattered all over the house.  I am so excited.  Dad got a new tool chest and new tools to go in it.  You can't hardly put dirty tools in a new tool chest can you??

And......this may be the R.E.A.L. reason we got Madden 09.  Just a thought!
